A COURTYARD GARDEN

Location: Chiswick

Site Description: A small and rectangular site.

The Brief: The client originally wanted a minimal and contemporary space with straight line with a studio to be built at the end of the garden. Later, after the masterplan was drawn she changed her mind and decided to build a garden based in a earlier sketch with a circular area in the middle.

The Design Process: The decking was designed on the same level of the house where the glass french doors opens to the garden. A circular paved area were designed as a space to display a collection of pots which she brought from the old house. At the end another decking was designed as a platform to build the studio. All old brick walls were cladded with marine plywood and painted to match the green colour of the studio

Major Soflandscape: Vitis vinifera, trachelospermum jasminoides, Hostas and seasonal plants for the pots

Major Hardlandscape: Yorkstone, marine plywood and iroko decking

Final Result: An enchanting and modern courtyard to enjoy with candles, wine and good food surrounded by a vine that cover wall the all with beautiful grapes
