A SHOW GARDEN

This garden was designed for an imaginary client living in a big and busy city and having a modern and hectic lifestyle. They are conscious about what to buy, what to wear, what to eat and drink. House and garden are their modern sanctuary and should be integrated in one statement and as one space: the fifth room

The use of simple lines and no ornamentation was the first strategy for this small garden. The scheme is divided into two areas. The first area is close to the house and he used honey coloured limestone, the second area is on the second level and he used wood as decking to complement the colour and the wood floor from the living room. At the end of the decking he designed a rounded planter, which form a small circular area enough for a small table and chairs.

For the planters, he used two large architectural trees and underplanted them with grasses and perennials. Texture more important than colour.

In his designs, one element should always be a statement. For this scheme the water feature is the simple and major one. They are designed as a large black metal sphere built around the decking, steps and stone paving. Inspired by the Salvador Dali metal watch (soft watches), it starts in the decking with water gently falling down the steps as if the sphere were melting and ending in the stone paving.
