Roberto
Silva is a Brazilian born landscape architect and garden designer
living and working in London since 1992.He has been interested
in landscape and gardens from an early age when he started
gardening at his family farm in North east Brazil.
He went on to study Agronomy at the University in Pernambuco,
followed by further training in garden design In Sao Paulo.
There, he also visited gardens by other designers including
Burle Marx who became one of his influences. In UK, he studied
English garden design at Capel Manor, then completed master
degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Greenwich.
Now he divides his time between London and Brazil, designing
small and large gardens for metropolitan clients .His first
major commission is the much-acclaimed Foster
garden and has been widely published in magazines and
books.
Roberto has recently written a book about New
Brazilian gardens, the legacy of Burle Marx (Thames and Hudson).
