FEES FOR SERVICES

For the initial visit a fee of £75 plus mileage or travelling expenses will be charged for local work. This fee will be waived if the design work is undertaken locally. Following this an estimate for stages 2-4 (the survey, proposal and masterplan for the work) will be sent to you for your consideration and approval. For the subsequent stages, a separate estimate for such drawings and services can be given after the completion of stages 2-4. Estimates of time and costs will be given in advance, whichever services is required, so that you are always in control of the budget.

We work on an hourly and percentage basis, depending on the value of the project. Where the work is less than £10,000 or a full design is not required, our time is charged at £50 per hour. Where the value of the work is over £10,000, this is done on a sliding scale as follows:

£10,000 to £35,000 – 20%
£35,000 to £150,000 – 15%
£150,000 plus – 10%

An estimate of our fee accompanies our report to you. Once the garden has been designed and priced we are able to give an accurate quote.

Fees are due in the following stages:

1.Upon acceptance of the "report" and upon our engagement – 10%
2.Upon submission of the survey and site analysis – 15%
3.Upon the submission of the masterplan – 25%
4.Upon submission of detail design – 25%
5.Upon submission of production information – 10%
6.Upon submission of the site operation and contract administration –15%

Administration (adjusted to reflect the actual cost).
Additional drawings and services are charged separately. Payments on receipt of drawings and completion of the services required.

Supply of plants: plants are supplied on a competitive price. There is an extra charge if plants are handpicked. 50% of the cost of the plants is payable upon placing the order and 50% upon the delivery of the plants.

Expenses: they can be included in the above fee or added to them. They are a true reflection of the cost incurred. Such expenses are mostly charged at cost of the nearest accepted figure and are itemised. E.g. photocopies, parking, travelling expenses, mileage, dyeline prints, photography, subsistence if on site the whole day, postage, courier charges, incidental copies of maps, local town plans, etc. Other specialist services or engagement with other professionals are charged at cost plus 10%

Disbursement: monies are paid on behalf of clients, such as planning permission fees charged at cost.

Travel overseas: if involving flying, it will be in business class. Where overnight stays in airports, hotels, taxis and other disbursements are charged as extras. We requested to payments for airfares and half of the estimated sites visit in advance. Once we visited the site and discuss the project with the client, we can prepare a fixed quotation for the design work involved. Such work is at our standard rate.
